Alison is amazing to work with. We bought a home with a bare dirt yard, and wanted to transform it into a liveable and beautiful space featuring a patio & pathways - on a tight budget of course. We interviewed many landscapers and Alison was a great fit for us. She worked closely with us and delivered a design that was exactly what we wanted, with some great expert ideas, and helped us to work out a phased plan for implementing it that made the work much more affordable for us over time. She was very willing to work with us to figure out where we could reasonably save money (and do it ourselves) and where we really needed to have an expert handle the work. We completed the first phases of the project in the fall (getting irrigation and drainage fixed), and will be going back to Alison in the springtime to complete our dream patio with walkways through planting areas. Alison has been extremely easy to work with and (unlike several of the folks we spoke with) shows up and completes work ON TIME!! I highly recommend her.

Making a garden with Alison and the One Earth Solutions crew of gardeners was a rare and wonderful experience. Every part of the process combined inspiration and vision with practical expertise, dedicated work, and cost-conscious planning. Seeing the garden arise from ideas and words to a design on paper and then materialize in the shaping of bare earth, the choice of plants and rocks, the building of a cascading fountain, was magical.
The vision, proposed by Alison after a site visit and some conversation, was of a garden with the sense of a mountain retreat, a refuge in the midst of the city. The design took the form of a Japanese garden adapted to our Southwestern desert conditions, with many drought tolerant plants. From tall grasses and bamboo to a small aspen grove, with sprawling raspberries, roses, and fruit trees, the garden offered new harmony to our lives. Red and yellow twig dogwoods added accents of winter color, river cobbles brought a sense of mountain pathways, and ancient boulders added a sense of nature’s timelessness. Walking through the garden now it feels made of light as well as of the earth.
This garden also reflects the spirit of gardeners who love their work, who touch the earth with care. In the space of a typical Santa Fe back yard, they worked wonders. If Shakespeare could walk in this garden now, he’d see the stuff that dreams are made on.

Alison designed a lovely perennial garden in my yard where an old sandbox used to take up space. She had very appropriate plant suggestions, a clear plan, and an artistic eye. My new garden is a joy (even under a layer of snow) and I have added spring bulbs around the lichen-covered boulders and hope for spring to come soon.

What a great job, from planning through to installation. My property needed a comprehensive drainage and surface water control plan, plus a complete landscaping plan for my newly constructed house. The results are amazing. There are rock lined channels that direct canale runoff to irrigate trees. A flagstone patio connects the portal to a natural rock sitting area with a beautiful stone water fountain. The front of the house was completely transformed into a welcoming, contoured garden with trees, shrubs, roses, grasses and rock elements that accent a flagstone walkway to the front entrance. Strategically placed trees to the west will provide summer afternoon shade and serve as a windbreak year-round. The south and east sides have cottonwood, cherry, apple and spruce trees, roses, a variety of low growing bushes and native grasses, all placed to provide privacy where desired while maintaining mountain views. Great job, OneEarthSolutions! Very thoughtfully designed, beautifully implemented and outstanding rock work. Excellent craftsmanship.

The design included significant rock work (patios and paths) and help for the existing trees.
